We have been using the Urban Revolution bin on a trial basis for some two months. The trial unit has been located at the entrance to the Civic Centre and has been well received by staff and visitors alike.

Its modern design and finish appeals to users and we have found less cigarette litter in the area leading to the bin since it was installed. Following the trial, it is hoped that we will 'roll out' a quantity of the bins in the Borough's new shopping complex in Walton on Thames.

Urban Revolution has helped to transform the cigarette litter problem in Colchester. Our survey showed that bus stop areas and outside businesses are where piles of cigarettes can be found. After informing businesses of these bins and putting the bins onto bus stops, we have achieved a 60% reduction in cigarette-related litter in the town centre. The bins are attractive to look at and easy to empty and we have had very positive feedback from the public.
